Aims and articulation with the project:
The main goal of this workshop is to provide the CLAN team, mainly those who are going to undertake the tasks of fieldwork, with the essential tools to interpret the behaviour of companion animals.
We aim at:
1) identifying the main markers of welfare in companion animals, according to species;
2) identifying the main behaviours of animals towards humans (keepers, regular visitors, random visitors) according to species;
3) identifying the complexity of animal behaviour towards other animals in the house/space, according to species, as well as in regard to non-human elements (space available, objects, etc.).
4) understanding the specificities, if any, of animal behaviour in relationships with children.
These inputs will guide the CLAN team in the home visits. They will also be integrated into an observation grid that researchers will use to describe the human/non-animal(s) interactions at home.
